The following discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for the Roots of Peace Web site, www.rootsofpeace.org.
The Information We Collect and How We Use It
Two types of information are collected:
- Personal, or “individually identifiable” information you provide to us.
- Standard Web server/visitor traffic information, commonly referred to as “aggregate information,” regarding overall Web site traffic patterns. Web servers typically collect this type of basic information as part of their Web log processes. We do not report on individual user sessions.
Individually Identifiable Information
Our site uses a donate form to enable donors to support our cause. We collect contact information (such as their name, mailing address, phone number, and email address). Financial information (credit card numbers and expiration dates) is never stored on the rootsofpeace.org web server, but is routed directly to our PCI compliant payment gateway services. Contact information is used to send donor acknowledgements and follow-up information about our organization. Users may opt out of receiving future mailings; see the “Choice/Opt-Out/Corrections” section below.
In addition to information provided by our visitors, we use the normal Internet tracking tools associated with standard Internet protocols and Web-based systems. This system information is typically stored in log files and the information is used for aggregate reporting. Aggregate reporting includes: total number of visitors, most visited section, peak traffic times, etc. Log files are simply transaction records Web servers maintain. We do not report on individual user sessions.
We record anonymous data such as traffic logs, number of visits or clicks on a given page, pages viewed or links to our site. We use IP addresses and cookies for gathering website statistics. We also store IP addresses on our server in the event that our site should become corrupted and it becomes necessary to discover the cause of this corruption.
We aggregate this anonymous data as part of managing, maintaining and reporting on use of the website. We may share this anonymous data with third parties for the limited purpose of reporting on use of our website, or to comply with applicable law. We do not rent or sell any anonymous data collected on this website with third parties for marketing purposes.
None of this anonymous data is linked to personally-identifiable information and we make no attempt to link IP addresses to the individuals who visit this site.
We use aggregate information gathered from your visit to better design our Web site. This information supplies us with a road picture of how people use our Web site in order to help the management of our systems and to better serve our audience.
We maintain records of all contributions to Roots of Peace. Personal information is private and confidential, and all information is stored in a secure location accessible only by authorized staff.
You may remove your name from our contact list or change/modify information previously provided by contacting us at the following:

Cookies are small chunks of data created by a web server, delivered through a web browser, and stored on your computer. No personally-identifiable information is collected by or linked to any of the cookies delivered on our site.
We may place Google AdSense advertisements on this site. These advertisements will be from third-party vendors and advertisement networks. If you click a link and it takes you to an external site, we may get a commission if you make a purchase.

Google Advertising Cookie and Privacy Policies
What is the DoubleClick cookie?
The DoubleClick cookie is used by Google in the ads served on the websites of its partners, such as websites displaying AdSense ads or participating in Google certified ad networks. When users visit a partner’s website and either view or click on an ad, a cookie may be dropped on that end user’s browser. The data gathered from these cookies will be used to help better serve and manage ads on the publisher’s site(s) and across the web.
- Google’s use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to this site’s visitors based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Because we have not opted out of third-party advertisement serving, the cookies of other third-party vendors or ad networks may also be used to serve ads on this site. Please click HERE for more information regarding the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
Google Analytics and Google Display Advertising
Google Analytics is used on this site. For additional information regarding Google Analytics, please click HERE.
To comply with Google’s Display Advertising policy requirements, we agree to not facilitate the merging of personally-identifiable information with non-personally identifiable information previously collected from Display Advertising features that is based on the DoubleClick cookie unless we have robust notice of, and the user’s prior affirmative (i.e., opt-in) consent to, that merger.
At any point in time, some or all of the following Google Analytics features may be implemented on this website: Remarketing, Google Display Network Impression Reporting, the DoubleClick Campaign Manager integration, Google Analytics Demographics, and Interest Reporting.
Users can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads by using Google’s Ads Settings page.
To prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics, users can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
By implementing Google’s Remarketing features with Google Analytics, we agree to comply with all policy requirements set forth in the Google AdWords Interest-Based Advertising Policy and its sensitive category restrictions.
Because we may at any time implement Remarketing with Google Analytics to advertise online, visitors to this site should know the following:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, may show our ads on sites across the Internet.
- Third-party vendors and Roots of Peace, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to inform, optimize, and serve ads based on someone’s past visits to this site.
Because we may at any time implement Google Display Network Impression Reporting and/or the DoubleClick Campaign Manager integration, visitors to this site should know the following:
- Third-party vendors and Roots of Peace, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to report how our ad impressions, other uses of ad services, and interactions with these ad impressions and ad services are related to visits to this site.
Because we may at any time implement Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting, visitors to this site should know the following:
- We plan to use data from Google’s Interest-based advertising or 3rd-party audience data (such as age, gender, and interests) with Google Analytics to better understand our website’s audience, and to write articles and/or display ads that will be of interest to visitors of our website.
