Roots of Peace Compound Attacked
March 28, 2014—Kabul, Afghanistan—Roots of Peace residence in Karte Char, Kabul, was attacked at approximately 6pm Friday Kabul time. A complex assault was focused on the ROP residence and a nearby day care center. This attack comes just over a week before the country’s Presidential election.
The suicide car bomb followed by four armed men was directed at the Roots of Peace facility in the Karte Char neighborhood of Kabul on Friday evening. Two Afghan Personal Protection Force (APPF) guards were injured, along with minor injuries to one expat who received minor cuts from flying glass resulting from the blast. Five attackers, a 16 year old girl, and a driver have been confirmed killed as a result of the attack.
