Roots of Peace works with farmers in some of the world’s most challenging environments to rebuild agricultural systems and reconnect communities to markets.
Our work focuses on: 1) Rehabilitating farmland and irrigation; 2) Improving crop quality and productivity; 3) Strengthening market connections; 4) Supporting women and youth in agriculture; 5) Expanding safe, long-term economic opportunity
Every project is designed with one goal: help farming families regain stability and rebuild their futures.
Our Impact
Our efforts improve each step of the agricultural value chain. We introduce farmers to new methods and technology, improve export marketing techniques, and create strategies for ramping up food exports to lucrative overseas markets.
As a result, we have helped export nearly 160,000 metric tons of fruits, nuts, and spices valued at more than $491 million to international markets, impacting more than 1 million farmers and families. We have planted over 7 million fruit trees worldwide.
Strengthening Rural Futures in Guatemala
Across rural Guatemala, many families face one core challenge: economic instability. When farming no longer provides a reliable living, migration becomes a matter of survival—not choice.
Roots of Peace is working to change that by strengthening agricultural livelihoods. Our goal: reach 100,000 farming families with proven, climate-smart practices that increase income, reduce risk, and make it possible for families to build stable futures in their own communities.
Join us in growing opportunity in Guatemala
Your support directly strengthens on-farm production:
$500 funds a high-performance vegetable demonstration plot for community training.
$250 provides an efficient irrigation system for a smallholder farmer.
$50 supplies seedlings for a family’s vegetable production.
Together, we can build stronger roots in Guatemala—one farm, one family at a time.
