TAPROOT: Staff Profile
Roots of Peace is a global organization with hundreds of staff members working in Afghanistan, Vietnam, Europe and the UK and in our home office in San Rafael. Each staff member brings with them a unique perspective to the ever-changing landscape of our work. This new column invites you to get to know us on a more personal level. In May Roots of Peace was pleased to bring on board I. Kubrom Ghebretinsae as our new Chief Financial Officer. Below is a short Q&A to get to know him a little better!
Your role at Roots of Peace :As a Chief Financial Officer oversees the global financial and accounting operations of the NGO. Negotiates Federal indirect Cost Rates (aka NICRA) on annual basis.
What do you enjoy the most about your job? So far, I enjoy hearing the good things that ROP does all over the globe, in general, and specifically in country offices (Afghanistan and Vietnam) where its programs are already planted. I also enjoy being part of a team who is working to create a sustainable plan to continue the work of ROP.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced in your work? Since I had worked for international NGO in the past, I really didn’t see big challenges so far. But the “challenge of securing funds for the years to come” is a challenge that is portrayed across the industry, and as such I share that burden.
What is your favorite food to eat!? Thai food: pad Thai and Tom yum soup. Also Eritrean and Ethiopian food: zigni, kikil, kitfo, tibsi and enjera.
You can reach Kubrom at our home offices.
