Agricultural Marketing Program (AMP) Technical Training

While political crises preoccupy life in the cities, in the Afghan countryside farmers face the age-old challenges of how to bring value and nourishment from the soil. In recent months, Roots of Peace extension workers have continued to provide uninterrupted technical training badly needed by many rural farmers.

Under the USAID Agriculture Marketing Program, farmers receive a wide range of interventions to help maximize the quality and quantity of their crops. For grape farmers seeking to add value to their crops, our extension officers hold trainings in the best methods of drying raisins.

While grapes are perishable without adequate refrigeration, when dried as raisins they can be stored for months at a time, providing a valuable source of income during the off season.
