Support for Afghan Women
While the situation for women in Afghanistan is at a critical stage of transition, Roots of Peace remains committed to supporting the country's rising generation of female entrepreneurs. With women unable to join live classroom trainings, we shifted to an online format so that women could learn important business skills in the safety of their own homes and businesses. These trainings included accounting basics, food safety courses, access to finance and others.
Under our USAID-funded AMP program, we created a mentorship program that enabled emerging female businesswomen to learn from seasoned professionals in their field. Three businesswomen completed the two-month mentorship program where they worked closely with a successful company to observe business operations, packing and processing methods for reaching domestic and international markets. The three women were able to learn first-hand the fundamental business skills relevant to their own field of specialization.
